HOUSE FUNCTIONS:
 
The whole School is divided into Six Houses viz. Chenab, Ganges, Jhelum, Kaveri, Narmada and Yamuna and each house organizes its Annual Function.
 

Chenab House Function:

The XXVI Annual Chenab House Function was celebrated on 23rd April, 2011. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Subodh Hiran, Director Incharge (M & H.S.), J.L.N. Hospital, Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai. The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp followed by the Ganesh Vandana Dance. The House Warden (Senior Wing), Shri Sanjay Rudra extended a warm welcome to the exalted gathering. The theme of the cultural evening was ‘Desh Mera Rangeela’.  It began with ‘Desh Ki Awaz’, a Qawwali by the Primary School Chenabites.

The House Prefects presented the Annual House Report. The cultural programme comprised many colourful dances such as ‘India Kaleidoscope’ by the Primary Wing, Fusion Dance by the middle and senior wings and a classical performance by the girls of middle school and ‘Rangeen Sapne’ by the senior wing students.

The Chief Guest, in his speech recalled with nostalgia his long association with the school and eulogized tremendous progress the school has made. The Principal addressed the gathering and shared some of the school’s significant achievements.

Vande Mataram, a song by the senior school boys added a patriotic fervour to the evening. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Junior House Warden, Mrs. Kumkum Sinha and the programme drew to a close with the National Anthem.

Ganges House Function:

It was a proud moment for the inmates of Ganges House when they organised the Annual function of their House on 2nd July 2011. The theme of the Annual function was “Hues of the Earth”.  Shri S.K. Jain, G.M. Town Administration, BSP and Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai was invited as the Chief Guest. The programme started punctually, with Chief Guest and other dignitaries Lighting the Ceremonial Lamp with an Invocation. The programme was anchored by the students Geetika Sharma, G. Drushti Apoorva and Aishwarya Pillai. Our Senior House Warden Mrs. Neelam Pandey accorded a warm welcome to the Chief Guest. The House Captains Rubina Banerjee & Soumitra Goverdhan read out the Annual Report underlining the glorious achievements of the session gone by. The highlight of the cultural event was a scintillating duet dance by B. Aishwarya and S. Keerthana.
Apart from this, the audience was enthralled by a Dance drama presented by the Primary Wing students. The Chief Guest was highly pleased by the performances and appreciated the efforts put in by the students and tutors of Ganges House. Our Principal, Shri M.P. Yadav addressed the gathering with inspiring words. The cultural extravaganza concluded with a thought provoking Dance drama depicting the woes of Mother Earth. At the end, the Vote of thanks was proposed by the Junior House Warden Mrs. Parijat Das.

 

Jhelum House Function:

Jhelum House celebrated its Annual Function on 23rd July, 2011. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Janmejay Mahobe - Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Bhilai. The programme was also attended by Mr. K. Vinod Kujur, Distt. & Sessions Judge, Durg, Mrs. Divya Minj and other dignitaries. The function commenced with the presentation of floral tokens to all the distinguished guests, followed by the Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp. The Senior House Warden, Mrs. Manisha Singh in her Welcome Address introduced the Chief Guest to the august gathering. The programme based on the philosophy “I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep” was an enchanting medley of music, dance and drama. The highlight of the evening was the dance “Harmony Across the Border” specially choreographed keeping the chosen philosophy in mind. The Chief Guest in his speech extended his good wishes to the Jhelumites for their future endeavours. Speaking on the occasion the Principal Mr. M.P. Yadav congratulated the entire team of Jhelum House for the programme. The scintillating evening moved towards its finale with the Vote of Thanks by the Junior House Warden Mrs. Hancy Pothen and concluded with the National Anthem.

 

Kaveri House Function:

The Annual Kaveri House Function was celebrated  on August 6, 2011 in the Maroda Sector School Auditorium.  The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. M.S. Tomar, I.P.S., I.G. - CAF. He was formally welcomed by the Sr. House Warden Mr. K. Satheesh Kumar. A brief report on the achievements made by the House during 2010-'11 was presented by the House Captains. The theme of the cultural programme was Freedom which depicted the various aspects of Freedom through Songs, Dance and Drama. The highlights of the programme were the ‘Sur Lay Taal’, depicting the Musical Harmony and Freedom and ‘Naari Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ a Dance Drama showing the freedom of women. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Soma Sarkar, followed by the National Anthem.

 

Narmada House Function:

The Annual Narmada House Function was celebrated on August 27, 2011 in the Maroda Sector School Auditorium. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Shri Hemant Kumar Agrawal, Addl. District & Sessions Judge - Durg. He was formally welcomed by the Sr. House Warden Dr. (Mrs.) Komal L. Saxena. A brief report on the achievements made by the House during 2010-’11 was presented by the House Captains.

The theme of the cultural programme Sound of Music was explored through soulful rendition of songs, dances and instrumental music by the students of Primary and Senior School. The highlights of the programme were the ‘Kitchen Orchestra’, a unique musical harmony produced from kitchen utensils, organised by Shri Ravindra Karmakar and ‘Mithas Sur Ki’ a dance drama tracing the origins and evolution of Indian Music and its various forms. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Asha Manoj, followed by the National Anthem.
