20 students of DPS Bhilai qualified in the first phase of KVPY
20 students (14 students of class XI & 6 students of class XII) of Delhi Public School, Bhilai cleared the first phase of National Science Fellowship for students by Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The Govt. of India has initiated ‘The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana’ programme whereby exceptionally bright and highly motivated students with aptitude for research are identified and provided generous fellowships in Basic Science, Engineering and Medicine for further study in India. The coveted national scholarship is funded by the Deptt. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and administered by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The selected students in the second phase will get the fellowship of ` 4000/- per month and an annual contingency grant of ` 16000/- in classes XI & XII and thereafter ` 5000/- per month and an annual contingency of ` 20000/- during B.Sc. and 1st to 3rd years of integrated M.Sc. During M.Sc. and 4th & 5th years of integrated M.Sc., the successful students are awarded with a monthly fellowship of ` 7000/- and an annual contingency of ` 28000/-.

DPS BHILAI BAGS FIRST RANK IN ACADEMIC REPUTATION (FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR) AND ADJUDGED FIRST RANKED DAY SCHOOL IN CHHATTISGARH AS PER INDIA’S MOST RESPECTED SCHOOLS SURVEY 2011 BY EDUCATION WORLD – C FORE.
C-fore (Centre for forecasting and research) is a Delhi based market research agency established in 2000, conducting surveys of the leading educational institutions in the country. The survey is done on the basis of perceptual polls, a globally established process, in which an intelligently weighted base of knowledgeable respondents is quizzed on their assessment of institutions across various parameters.
The EW-C fore survey, 2011 of India’s Most Respected Schools has rated 404 of the country’s well known (Primary & Secondary) schools on the basis of perceptual rating scores awarded by a carefully constituted sample respondents base of 2044 parents, principals, teachers and educationists nationwide on 14 parameters of excellence. These parameters are Teacher welfare and development, Competence of faculty, Academic reputation, Cocurricular education, Sports education, Discipline and life skills education, Individual attention to students, Leadership/ management quality, Parental involvement, Infrastructure provision, Quality of alumni/students, Disabled friendliness, Value for money and Community service. For each parameter each school was awarded scores out of maximum 100 except for the component of Competence of faculty, which is given a weightage of 200. The scores thus awarded under each parameter are totalled to arrive at the annual ranking of schools.
For the second time in succession DPS Bhilai was adjudged “India’s First Ranked Day School” on the parameter of Academic Reputation with a score of 95/100.
It is noteworthy that on the parameters of Leadership/Management Quality and Community Service the school was adjudged 9th on an All India Ranking with scores of 82/100 and 79/100 respectively.
Further, the school was adjudged the First Ranked Day School in Chhattisgarh State.

DPS Bhilai Wins Laurels in NTSE 2011
In the prestigious National Talent Search Examination 2011 conducted by the NCERT, New Delhi, 14 students of Class VIII of Delhi Public School, Bhilai brought laurels to the school and the State by qualifying in the final phase of the examination competing with students from all over India for a total of 1000 scholarships. The students will receive an amount of Rs. 500/- per month each towards scholarship from Class IX onwards (irrespective of the class/course) except for Ph.D. wherein it is paid as per UGC norms. The scholarships are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to post graduate level.

Principal, DPS, Bhilai Conferred With Prestigious "Rajya Shikshak Samman Smriti Puraskar 2011"
Shri M.P.Yadav, Principal,Delhi Public School, Bhilai was conferred with the prestigious “Rajya Shikshak Samman Smriti Puraskar 2011” by His Excellency Shri Shekhar Dutt, Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh, on Monday, the 5th September, 2011 at a grand award presentation ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Raipur. The award carried a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-, a Shawl, Shreefal and a Certificate of Merit. The award was given in public recognition of devotion to duty, deep interest in education, disciplined approach, imparting computer aided teaching, maximum utilization of laboratories, imparting education to students in the playway method, not burdening the students with homework at the elementary level and proper monitoring of the students at the Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels.
This Award has been instituted in the memory of Shri Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh, Ex-Principal, Digvijay College, Rajnanadgaon, a prolific writer and poet of outstanding merit, by Directorate of Public Instructions, Govt. of Chhattisgarh.
In the year 2010, Shri M.P. Yadav was also conferred with the coveted “National Award to Teachers (NAT) 2009” and he is recipient of “CBSE Award to Teachers 2005”. The school also won 1st Computer Literacy Excellence Awards for School 2002 with a cash award of Rs. One lac instituted by the Ministry of Information & Technology, Govt. of India. This award was given away by
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then Hon’ble President of India. The management, staff and students extended their warm felicitations to the Principal Shri M.P. Yadav for this coveted honour that has been conferred upon him. The school fraternity feels proud of him.
Inauguration of Smart Classrooms in DPS Bhilai (Junior School - Nursery to Class V)
Smart Classrooms in the Junior School (Nursery - V) were inaugurated in the Maroda Sector School Complex on Thursday, the 23rd June, 2011. The Hon’ble Chief Guest for this momentous event was Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, I.A.S., Collector & District Magistrate, Durg (C.G.). The Guest of Honour was Dr. N. Mohapatra, Pro-Vice Chairman, SMC, DPS Bhilai & G.M. (HRD), BSP, Bhilai. Also present were Shri S.K. Jain, G.M. (T.A.), BSP & Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai, Shri K.K. Singh, D.G.M. (Education), BSP & Member, SMC, DPS Bhilai and Co-opted members, SMC, DPS Bhilai - Shri R.C. Singh, Ex-Chief Education Officer, BSP, Dr. A.K. Sharma, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Dr. Aditya Methi, Shri Rajneesh Chaddha, Area Manager, Educomp as well as other dignitaries.
The programme commenced with the presentation of floral tokens to the distinguished guests. This was followed by the Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp to the accompaniment of an invocation. The Principal, Shri M.P. Yadav in his address welcomed the distinguished guests. He spoke about the importance of introducing Computer Aided Teaching in the rapidly advancing technological world of today. He also mentioned that it had been a long cherished dream of his to have Digital Classrooms in DPS Bhilai which was now turning into a reality.
The World of Education through Computers, Digital Classrooms with Educomp, was explained in brief by Mrs. Aditi Lagvankar. The Chief Guest was then requested to formally inaugurate the “Smart Classrooms” with a ‘Click’ and DPS Bhilai too entered the realm of ‘Computer Aided Learning’.
Speaking on the occasion the Pro-Vice Chairman expressed his elation at becoming a part of the school community. He said that benefits of technology were enjoyed by all but computer technology elevated the mind and empowered one to think better. He exhorted the students to enjoy this tool of learning.
The Chief Guest expressed her pleasure at being present on this glorious occasion and said that she was deeply impressed by the decision of the Principal and the Management to introduce Computer Aided Teaching in the classrooms especially at Primary and Pre-Primary levels. She added that she was sure computer aided teaching would help in clearing the basic concepts, ensuring a strong foundation. She urged the Principal to arrange for visits by Government Schools to DPS Bhilai, so that this worthy effort could be replicated in every nook and corner of the State. She concluded by appreciating the discipline and standard of DPS Bhilai which enjoyed the title of the ‘Educational Hub’ of the State.
The short cultural programme comprising a speech, poetry recitation, a classical dance and a group dance was greatly appreciated by the elite gathering. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Lipika Banerjee, the Head Mistress – Primary Wing and the programme concluded with the National Anthem.

Delhi Public School, Bhilai has exhibited an excellent performance in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) - 2011 conducted by the CBSE, New Delhi.

Excellent Performance by Students of DPS Bhilai in AISSE 2011
DPS Bhilai students have fared exceedingly well in the AISSE 2011 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Board has also awarded Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) which is the average of Grade Points obtained in all the subjects excluding additional 6th subject as per the scheme of studies. An indicative equivalence of Grade Point and Percentage of marks can be assessed as follows:

Out of the total 429 students who appeared, 174 students scored CGPA 10 (95 indicative percentage) i.e. A1 grade in all five subjects, 305 students scored CGPA 9 & above (85.5 indicative percentage), 372 students scored CGPA 8 & above (76.0 indicative percentage) and 420 (97.90%) students were placed in the First Division (above 60.80 indicative percentage).
The total number of distinctions achieved in various subjects has been 1949 (indicative percentage 76) and the average distinction ratio being 4.54. The average CGPA per student is 9.21 and the average indicative percentage per student is 87.48. The highest score i.e. Grade Point in all the subjects is 10 and the number of students scoring the highest GP in English - 206, Hindi - 45, Communicative Sanskrit - 180, Maths - 267, Science - 261 and Social Science - 217.

DPS Bhilai Excels in CG PET-2011 and CLAT- 2011
Delhi Public School, Bhilai has exhibited an excellent performance in Chhattisgarh CG-PET - 2011 conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board and Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2011.
A total of 101 students qualified in the CG PET 2011. Out of these 3 students got ranks within top 10 and they are (rank in bracket): Gagan Agrawal (2), Akshay Singh (5) & Snigdha V Goley (7).

Anand K is also the proud receipent of the most coveted KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) Fellowship by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, funded by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. Further, he got 1st position in the 13th National Science Olympiad and was awarded a Gold Medal and Cash prize of ` 51,000/-.

DPS Bhilai Principal got “Best Principal” Award
In the 10th National Cyber Olympiad conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation, New Delhi, the Principal of Delhi Public School, Bhilai Shri M.P. Yadav had been selected for the “Best Principal Award” from the State of Chhattisgarh for the continuous support rendered towards popularization of Science, Maths, English and IT.
The award ceremony was held on 22nd May, 2011 at Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding Auditorium, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. The Award comprising ` 7,500/- and a trophy was given away by Dr. Y.S. Rajan, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Distinguished Professor, ISRO who co-authored the “Ignited Minds” with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Ex-President of India. Hon’ble Justice Shri Dipak Misra, Chief Justice, Delhi High Court graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
It is worth mentioning that 3 students of our school viz. Anand K. of class XII secured 1st Rank in 13th National Science Olympiad and was awarded Gold Medal and ` 51,000/-. Simi Karan of class VIII & Piyush Arya of class X have secured 2nd & 3rd rank respectively in the 4th International Mathematics Olympiad. Simi Karan was awarded Silver Medal & Laptop while Piyush Arya got Bronze Medal & Laptop.
The Science Olympiad Foundation is a non-profit organization established by leading academicians, scientists and media personalities with the aim of promoting science and computer education. The Science Olympiad Foundation has been striving for about a decade to inculcate proper understanding of Science and IT through innovative activities that involve school students globally. The SOF Mission is to develop a large, exclusive scientific and IT talent pool for the future and to seek out and identify young geniuses, and providing them with a unique competitive platform where they could prove themselves.

Excellent Performance by Students of DPS Bhilai in AISSCE 2011
The students of DPS Bhilai have performed commendably in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination 2011 conducted by the CBSE. The total number of students who appeared for the AISSCE 2011 was 403 and there were no failures. The percentage of students placed in the 1st division is 97.52%.
In PCM/PCB group, Akshay Singh, son of Mr. Arvind Kumar, DGM (SMS-1), BSP, N Arvind, son of Mr. V. Navaneetha Krishnan, DGM, BHEL, Korba and Snigdha V. Goley, daughter of Mr. Vivek Goley, SMO, CSPDCL Dispensary, Raipur topped the school with 95.4% marks. Saaket Prakash and Thumati Pravachan shared the honour of securing the second position with 94.8% and Agnisnato Datta and Kunal Agrawal, secured the third position with 94.4% marks.
In the Commerce Group, Vishal Bansal secured the top position with a score of 94.6%. Kajori De and Purvi Sankhla shared the second position with 92.8%. Yash Jain, Prarabdh Thakur and Vidhi Singh Gupta shared the third position with 92% marks.
The total number of distinctions has been 1373 with the average distinction ratio being 3.41. The total number of A1 grades i.e., who are placed at the top 1/8th position at All India level is 528 (24.85%) and that of A2 is 475 (22.35%).

DPS Bhilai Wins Laurels in NTSE 2010
In the prestigious National Talent Search Examination 2010 conducted by the NCERT, New Delhi, 19 students of Class VIII of Delhi Public School, Bhilai brought laurels to the school and the State by qualifying in the final phase of the examination competing with students from all over India for a total of 1000 scholarships. The students will receive an amount of Rs. 500/- per month each towards scholarship from Class IX onwards (irrespective of the class/course) except for Ph.D. wherein it is paid as per UGC norms. The scholarships are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to post graduate level.

“Principal, DPS, Bhilai Conferred With Prestigious “NAT 2009”
Shri M.P. Yadav, Principal, Delhi Public School, Bhilai was conferred with the prestigious National Award to Teachers (NAT) 2009 by H.E. Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Hon’ble President of India, on Sunday, the 5th September, 2010 at a grand award presentation ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The award carried a Certificate of Merit, a Silver Medal and a Cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-. The award was given in public recognition of valuable services to the community as a teacher of outstanding merit.
Instituted in 1958, the National Award to Teachers are given away by the President of India on 5th September (Teachers’ Day) every year to give public recognition to meritorious teachers working in primary, middle and secondary schools. Each State/Union Territory/Organization has an earmarked quota based on the number of teachers. The Scheme also covers teachers of the schools affiliated to CBSE including teachers of independent affiliated schools situated abroad, ICSCE, Sainik Schools, KVS, NVS, CTSA and schools run by the Atomic Energy Education Society.
In the year 2006, he was conferred with the coveted CBSE Award to Teachers For The Year 2005.
