1. Inter DPS Competitions for South &Central Zone Schools Organized by DPS Society, New Delhi:

Inter DPS Senior Quiz 2009 (South and Central Zone) at DPS Bhilai: Delhi Public School Bhilai had the privilege of hosting the Inter DPS Senior Quiz (South and Central Zone) at its Risali Sector School Complex on 27th April, 2009. A total of nine schools participated in the quiz; they are DPS Bhilai, DPS Bilaspur, DPS Durg, DPS Jabalpur, Mandla Road, DPS Korba, DPS Hyderabad, DPS Raipur, DPS Secunderabad and DPS Vishakhapatnam. The Runners-Up Trophy was awarded to DPS Durg which scored 41 points and the Winners Trophy went to DPS Bhilai which scored 48 points.

In the Level II DPS Science & Maths Talent Examination conducted by the DPS Society in collaboration with SOF on 18th January, 2009 four of our students Jyotirmayee Sabat, Tulika Jatrele, Anamika Agarwal and Sayyad Irfan Ali secured 17, 21, 39 and 48th rank respectively and were awarded a digital dictionary and a scholarship amount of Rs. 5000/- each. 

2. International Olympiad of English Language 2009:

In the International Olympiad of English Language 2009, one of our students, Master Shourya Singh Gupta of class XC bagged the 2nd position at International Level and has been awarded a scholarship of Rs. 10,000/-.

3. Academic Camp on Developing Competitive Edge in Science and Maths:

Academic Camp on “Developing Competitive Edge in Science and Maths.” At HRD Centre, DPS, Dwarka, from 18-23rd May, 2009: The formal inauguration and valedictory function of the camp was graced by the presence of dignitaries like Mr. Ashok Chandra, Chairman, DPSS, Prof. B.P. Khandelwal, Member, DPSS, Mr. A.K. Sharma, former Director, NCERT, Mr. V. Sheshan, Former Principal, Atomic Centre School, Trombay, Prof. L.S. Kothari, Retd. Prof. of Physics, Delhi University, Mrs. Aruna Ummat, Director, HRDC, DPS, Dwarka and others. The main aim of the camp was to generate enthusiasm in thinking beyond textbooks, on developing independent thinking and a scientific temper among students and last but not the least, the role of a teacher in initiating interest for Science among students. The camp was beneficial for teachers too.

4. Achievements:

(a)Science Olympiad Foundation: In the Award Presentation Ceremony held on 31st May, 2009 at Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding Auditorium, New Delhi three of our students and the Principal were felicitated for the following achievements:
11th National Science Olympiad Master Pallav Goyal of Class VIII got 1st Position and in the 8th National Cyber Olympiad Master Islahul H Zunjani got 3rd Position and in the 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad Miss Prarthana Jain secured the 3rd Position. Shri M P Yadav, Principal was awarded the ‘Best Principal Award 2008-’09: 2nd IMO.’

(b) International Olympiad For Astronomy and Astrophysics: Miss Nidhi Pashine of Class XII G is among the five to represent India in the International Olympiad for Astronomy and Astrophysics to be held in October, 2009 in Tehran (Iran). She has attended the Orientation-cum-Selection Camp at Homi Bhabha Centre for Research and Science education, Mumbai from 28th April, 2009 to 16th May,2009.
